Buller takes his second stage win, Walsh takes the Overall

John Buller (Cycling Ulster) produced the winning formula for claiming bunch sprints once again today when he showed a clear bike length ahead of the peloton on the final stage in Ennis.

An aggressive final stage on a rolling 10 kilometre circuit made it difficult for any breakaway to achieve greater than 30 seconds before being reeled in.

Ben Walsh (Team Ireland) was the first rider to depart in the stage 1 Time Trial some 490 kilometres ago where he took the lead by 6 seconds and has never looked back since as he claimed the JJ McCormack Trophy and adds his name to the record books along with others such as Nicholas Roche, Sam Bennett, Ian Stannard, Luke Rowe, Ben Swift and Eddie Dunbar.

The Eurocycles.com points jersey was confirmed by Jason Oosthuizen (South Africa) thanks to his consistent finishes all week which saw him take one stage win, three second places and a top 10.

The Wicklow 200 King of the Hills competition was closely fought for all week and was only settled yesterday when Cameron Orr (Lucan CRC) reaped the rewards for his consistency in picking up points throughout the week before claiming some of the larger climbs yesterday.

The Clare County Council 1st year junior classification was won by Gaelan Kilburn (Hot Tubes USA). In a similar fashion to the winner Walsh, Kilburn held this jersey right from the opening stage by lying second overall, 6 second behind Walsh throughout.

Team Ireland claimed the team prize thanks to having 3 riders inside the top 10 throughout the week. They held a 19″ advantage over Hot Tubes USA and really showed their dominance throughout the week as they controlled the race whenever possible for the eventual winner, Walsh.
