Quanta Capital Junior Tour Route Announcement

06/06/24

The event organisation today announced the course to be used for the 2024 edition of the Quanta Capital Junior Tour.

With some adjustments made to the 2023 edition, a longer edition with some new territory is in store for the riders for 2024.

570 kilometres over six stages will await the riders with all stages starting in Ennis, County Clare and concluding in various locations around the county.

Stage 1 on Tuesday evening, 9th July differs from previous editions and is a 63.6km race starting in Ennis and racing towards Crusheen before turning onto the fast straight road to Tulla, before taking on the first King of the Hills of the week at Maghera before the fast finish at Barefield.

Stage 2 is familiar territory for the race as they head into West Clare on a 93.7km journey along the Shannon Estuary into Kildysert, Kilrush and Carrigaholt before traversing the Kilkee Cliffs before a fast descent to the finish on the promenade at Kilkee.

Stage 3 is arguably the Queen Stage of the week due to not only being the longest stage of the week but also taking in the tough but scenic roads of the Burren. Starting from Ennis, the riders take on 122.8km of heavy undulating roads in the Burren while scaling the regular climbs of Carron and Castle Hill. This years stage will see the finish into Kilfenora, just over 20 kilometres from the top of Castle Hill in what should be a thrilling encounter on the West Coast of Ireland.

Stage 4 is familiar to most as the race takes on the 103km loop starting and finishing in Ennis. The stage races towards the west coast to take in the Wild Atlantic Way and the famous Cliffs of Moher climb before returning inland for the fast finish on the Ennis By-Pass.

Stage 5 contains a major change to the previous East Clare Stage with the first 73km the same as in 2023 but instead of turning back for Barefield, the stage will turn back across towards Killaneana, Caher Lake, along the undulating roads of Flagmount before having some respite on the wider roads towards Kilbecanty for the stage finish after 112km in Gort, Co. Galway.

The final stage, stage 6 has a slight adjustment on previous editions in that there will be almost 30 kilometres of racing before joining the traditional circuit for four laps to complete the 74 kilometre stage and the crowning of the winner of the 2024 Quanta Capital Junior Tour.
